Did you know?

As Single working mother's progress, government benefits are lost and a majority become low wage workers.
Many single mothers are employed in the city's service sector -- employment characterized by high turnover, low pay, and few on-the-job benefits, this can be turned around by further training and education.
Lack of needed benefits in job's in service sector, or small businesses:
- More than a third of low-wage working mothers reported they were unable to obtain needed medical care for them or children in the past year because they could not afford it.
- Lack of days off for sick leave, or to care for a sick child or dependent: 53 percent did not have a single day of paid sick leave, and 61 percent had no paid vacation.
