Buddy Networking Club According to the Census Stats, single mothers make up 59% of the U.S. Households. Even if a parent with one child works full-time at the federal minimum wage, which has not been raised since 1997, the family still lives in poverty. According to the Children Defense Fund, more than seven out of every ten poor children in 2004 lived in a family with at least one employed relative. Since the needs of the working single mother varies from a working married mom, our Buddy Networking Club is specifically designed to provide encouragement, information and resources to assist the single working mother. It also gives us the opportunity to introduce our mission to others and to increase our group of friends and colleagues. It is a Mother's empowering Mothers venue. The vision of the club is to align single working mothers from all economic backgrounds in order to propel some of the impoverished single mothers out of poverty. This will directly impact the lifestyles of their children in a positive manner. How will we do this? There are not currently any membership fees for the club, however, there may be fees associated with certain events where we have luncheons and guest speakers. The program will vary by city. Some of the available benefits for our members: local "buddy gatherings" (where applicable), on-line support and communications, and invaluable mentoring/coaching (Success Network) to all members of this club. Our Buddy Networking Club is growing nationally and you will have a chance to connect with others throughout the United States. Although this club focuses on working single mothers, it is available to all women who would like to participate in this empowering "pipeline". {bottom} |
